How to Choose an Endodontic Course in India: 9 Questions to Ask Before You Enrol

If you are a general dentist comparing endodontic courses in India, the hardest part is not finding a syllabus. Most courses can list diagnosis, rotary files, obturation and complex cases. The useful question is what you will actually do, under whose supervision, and what changes when you return to your clinic.

1. How much of the course is actually hands-on?

Ask for the participant workload, not just the phrase hands-on. How many access preparations? How many canals or teeth? Are you operating yourself or watching a demonstration? What happens if you make an error? A practical course should make the amount of supervised work easy to understand.

2. What level of case difficulty is taught?

A beginner course and an advanced retreatment course solve different problems. Look for whether the program addresses the cases you currently avoid or refer: calcified canals, curved canals, MB2 location, ledges, separated instruments, retreatment and difficult access.

3. Does the course teach decision-making or only instruments?

A file system is a tool, not a clinical strategy. Good endodontic training should connect diagnosis, access, anatomy, glide path, shaping, irrigation and obturation into a sequence of decisions. You should understand why a protocol changes when the anatomy changes.

4. Will you learn under magnification, if magnification is part of the promise?

If a course markets microscope-assisted endodontics, ask what the participant actually does under the microscope. Canal location, access refinement, ultrasonic work and management of difficult anatomy require more than a microscope demonstration from across the room.

5. Who is teaching you?

Look beyond titles. Review the instructor's clinical work, teaching history and the cases they use to demonstrate their approach. Direct access to the mentor during hands-on work is different from a large lecture with multiple instructors.

6. What happens after the three days?

Clinical learning does not stop when the certificate is handed over. Ask whether you can discuss cases after the course, whether there is a structured support channel, and whether the instructor is willing to explain why a real case should be treated, referred or modified.

7. What is included in the fee?

Compare like with like. Check whether instruments, teeth or simulation materials, course notes, meals, certification and other materials are included. A cheaper headline fee can represent less practical exposure, while a higher fee may include a larger training workload. Compare the actual training delivered, not just the number on the invoice.

8. Are the claims measurable?

Be cautious with phrases such as best course, guaranteed success or lowest price. More useful claims are measurable: batch size, number of exercises, duration, equipment available, faculty access, case types and post-course support.

9. Can you see the training before you pay?

Real course footage is one of the simplest ways to judge whether the teaching environment matches the promise. Look for participants actually working, not only polished promotional graphics.
